At first sight, it looks like a normal 1954 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint (but I think that's no secret?).

So then, was it some sort of prototype for the Giulietta Sprint?

OK! It looks like a Giulietta Sprint but it is not a "normal" Giulietta Sprint...
And not a prototype...  :shakehead:

Belonged to someone famous? And maybe 'customized' it?

Is it strange due to the body (perhaps aluminum)?

Aluminium engineblock?

Perhaps simply a "Sprint Veloce"?

Ok, let's try to make some logic thinking.

Tell me, please, if I'm wrong.

Nothing related to the engine.
Something about the body, but still in steel.
No "Veloce" lightweight and no replica.

Modified for racing?

Yes... modified, but not for racing... and not only in the body... the body is not the most important modified part...

Some adaptation for a disabled driver?

D-type

An Alfa Romeo produced in South Africa with a non-Alfa engine to meet  "local content" regulations ???
