Here are 9 makes of cars, each one with a "colorful" name! 1 point will be given for each make named. There should be something for each skill level but we'll let the Rookies have a crack first. Have fun!

OK, a little hint in case this seems harder than it is.

Five of the pictured makes simply have a color name as their name.

The remaining four have a color name as part of their name; three of those have it at the beginning of the name.

Do you need answers for ALL to get point/s ?

ftg3plus4

If you mean, does one person need to guess all 9 to get points? No. You'll get points for as many or as few as you can guess correctly.

If you mean, will the points only be awarded after all 9 are guessed? Yes.

OK, time to let the Experts get their hands on this.

Even though this is a bunch of not-easily-recognizable pre-war cars, it shouldn't be that hard to look up makes with "color" names & try to figure out which cars they might go with!

It sure is!

Learned a few things while looking for a good pic of it. I found that it's the only one still existing (out of very few made), is housed in a museum in Canada, and was notable for its tilt steering. There was a Redpath family newsletter with a pic of the maker's great-grandson standing by the car, but you couldn't see what the car looked like.

It's often interesting to learn the stories behind these obscure old makes that get 2 lines in the car encyclopedia.

I found the name in a car encyclopedia and did a google search to see if I got lucky. I think that was the picture I found. He was holding the bonnet, which was the most reconisable bit.

ftg3plus4

OK, this has been sitting for a few days. I think it's time to see if the Pros can color in the blank spots!

CMP3 = French Mauve with Anzani 1100cc engine from 1923-24

Right you are! I figured this would be one of the last ones gotten. I'm getting increasingly curious as to which one turns out to be hardest.

BTW, here is the unmodified Mauve pic with its name still on.

Tip for your next puzzle: it's advisable to obscure details like the plate of the event. "Vaucluse Vintage Rallye 2008" was a great assist to find the Mauve which I never had found without this hint.

Yeah, I thought about obscuring that & probably should have. On the other hand, if you can find the answer based on a detail like that, I think you deserve the point. I have to wonder how hard this one would have been to solve without that.

BTW, between you & 250gto, I'm getting some interesting insights into how some people might go about solving an auto puzzle. (And to think I almost always have to use the lame tactic of luckily happening to recognize a photo I've seen before!)

ftg3plus4

Nope.

I think this would be a good time to mention that no color name is used more than once -- i.e., we already have a "Black."

Ok, another guess:  #2 1902 Greenleaf?

ftg3plus4

Nope. Wanted to use that one, but couldn't find a pic!
