Post by: Carnut on May 11, 2011, 09:48:14 AM
Identify this car and from when it dates for 1 point.
And it's NOT a repost, which should at least tell you what the car is not...

That's Chris Lawrence's Peewick.

Yes, that's correct!
And just to answer the question posed completely so I can award a point, when does it date from?

Yes - it's Chris Lawrence's Peewick completed in February 1963 using one of the Peerless shells he acquired when they went bankrupt.  They had difficulty deciding on a name so called it the PEErless WarWICK.

He built it for his father, using lots of components from both the Peerless and its successor the Warwick.

Lawrence built his own tubular chassis for it, and the body had to be shortened by 4 inches in between the doors and rear wheelarches to fit.  It kept the Peerless suspension but much modified and ended up with a lower stance and wider track, giving much improved handling.

It's not a well-known car so well done!

Here's a rear view for good measure:

I believe not, no.
Chris Lawrence built it for his father to use, and he completed well over 100,000 mile sin it!
