My original NEH 1207 turned out to be a re-post so here is a new picture.
What car is it, for 1 point?

Triumph is right, but not Toledo.  It's a prototype for something else, and has a name of its own too which I need.

But still again a Michelotti design?

Ajax is right.
Prototype for what though?

OK.
So this puzzle is open again to anyone who wants to tell me what Triumph the Ajax was a prototype for?

The Ajax started as project to follow the Harald but turned into the prototype for the Dolomite. Thats why the 2door version was skipped. Only as Toledo a 2door version appeared. The clean lines stem from Michelotti who also did the bigger 2000.
The 1300 engine was based on the Spitfire. Latter versions received bigger engines and turned from FWD into RWD...

Carnut

Yes, but still no-one has said the model which first appeared out of the Ajax project!
Both the Toledo and Dolomite came later!

The front wheel drive unit and gearbox was used in the FWD Saab 99, designed by Sixten sason. Though the engine was reviewed by Saabs own technical staff...

This is true, but unfortunately is not the answer I'm looking for...

1300

..but this is at last!
The Ajax project led first to the highly-acclaimed but very dated looking FWD 4 door Triumph 1300, which then went on to split into 2 different models, the RWD 2-door Toledo and the FWD 4-door Dolomite.
I had the misfortune to be given a company Toledo, which I have to say is the worst driver's car I've ever run.  The quality was good enough, but the performance was just about on a par with a traction engine and the handling uninspiring to put it very kindly...!

A front view of what I believe is the same car or a slightly different version of the same car:
