Make/model/name/builder/date?  All for 1 point..

Looks like a Talbot Lago T26 GS with Saoutchik bodywork. I don't have an exact year, but I would think 1948.

That is indeed the car, although it's from 1950 rather than 1948 - but I've given you the point since you got the exact name right and you're close enough with the date.

An easy one, I know, but I thought it was such a lovely car it needed to feature on AP..!

Peter M. Larsen (Talbot Lago specialist) has it as from 1949.

I've seen it on the 'Net as both a 1948 and 1950 so we might as well have 1949 in as well!

This is a picture described as a 1949 Saoutchik T26, which may well be the same car?:

That is a different one, as you can tell when you see the front:

And you think they made both that one and my puzzle car in the same year?

I just had a look  at my René Bellu books. The puzzle car is definitely from 1949. In 1949, Saoutchik built at least further two Talbot Lago convertibles and one Delahaye. The other car you mention was already displayed at the Paris Salon 1948 and again at Brussels Salon 1949.

A lovely car indeed. This is the first T26 GS Saoutchik that I see with that grille design. Does anyone know how many T26 GS's were bodied by Saoutchik?

The puzzle car has been unearthed with the Baillon collection:

ropat53

Sold for $1,925,813 – 1,702,000€ :o :o :o

The 59 lots of the Baillon collection were sold and the sale total reached 28.5 million dollars.
