There are two points offered for this one. One for the donor and another for the year when this was built and the coachbuilder.
Experts?
Better than "I like it" I can't make it.
But is this from a Western European country?
Well, one of the two (donor or coachbuilder) is from Europe
Let's say the Donor is American and the coachbuilder European
Dodge?
Yes, the donor is American and the coachbuilder is European. But the basis is not a Dodge
The wheelbase reminds me somewhat of the PLM. Might it be based on that and bodied in Belgium?
No, it's got nothing to do with Belgium or PLM
French body?
Not a French body
"Auto Lux" ?
I don't think it had a proper name, but can you elaborate?
Autolux was an electrick truck made in Italy circa 1947, which looks like yours, but with some differences. I doubt it is the one, alas !

Italian? They made cars
before the war then too
It is not Italian and not an Autolux.
Professionals?
Not one guess, okay, try to think of American vehicles which were abound in Europe right after the war
So, it's based on a WW2 US military Jeep?
exactly :) Now, try to find the coachbuilder.
from the Benelux?
move towards East
Germany
you are still not there. Just a little bit towards the East :)
Poland?
No, it is a German-speaking country.
Switzerland, and the brand is composed of three letters, but I can't recall it at the moment :'(
DTM, DRW ??
It is not Switzerland and not a 3-letter coachbuilder. Welcome to AutoPuzzles Zanza :)
Should be Austria then if my geography is right..
Yes, this is a Jeep bodied by an Austrian company. It is not impossible to solve this :)
Steyr?
No, this one was a small company in the westernmost part of Austria. It seems the family is still involved in the automotive business.
one of the classic Austrian coachbuilders?
I believe this wasn't a coachbuilder, rather a car-repair company which converted a jeep to a truck.
Don't give up on this one! I already gave a big clue on the location of the city, which is the capital of a state in Austria....
From Bregenz?
Yes, from Bregenz...
One last nudge before the Black Hole
To the Black Hole

Is it okey-dokey to dive into the Black Hole and try to solve sumptin?
Or does this go against the rules?
Also, if I may axe you, in what capacity is this family involved with autos?
Auto repair I assume?
Please feel fry to try - I'd love if someone would put this one to rest. The family is in the automobile dealership business.
Ok, thank you!
Hander? Seitz? Birk? Wehinger? Strolz? Schneider? Anwander?
(Sorta cheating I realize.)
One of those. Which one do you choose? One question at a time :) And obviously locked for you
Yay!
Ok then, I'll use my amazing mind power and pick.....Strolz?
Not that one
I keep on a-searchin' like I'm a-goin' ta church-n and cain't find nuthin on any of those names relating to a wee little truck from the days of yeasteryears.
So I'll just have to keep guessing.
Is it Seitz?
Nope
Hander?
You're running out of candidates, but still not the right one
I say with a smirk, Birk?
Thanks for bearing with me on this. I'm very interested to know the history.
Still not the right one
Wehinger? (not a cool name for a truck!) :hah: "You drive a Wehinger, HAHA!"
Nope
Schneider ? ? ? :hyper:
Nope
Jeesisss H. Chrysler, it would have to be the last one, wouldn't it!!!
So it's got to be Anawander, right?
So eventually you got there my friend :)
"In Bregenz-Kennelbach-Vorarlberg baut die Karosseriefabrik Th. Anwander's Söhne diesen 1-ton-Kleinlastwagen auf dem Jeep-Chassis"
Th. Anwander's Sons made this 1-ton small truck on the basis of a Jeep in Bregenz-Kennelbach-Vorarlberg in 1947.
Today the Anwander family is an Opel dealer.
Two points for you!
Wow, THAT was easy. ::) haha!
Thanks for your added info. I find this truck interesting.
I'm surprised it's a 1-ton!
Is there a source I could check out to learn a little more about these?
I found this car in an old issue of Austro Motor. Maybe you'd contact the current Anwander company and see if they got any photos and info!
Yes, I was thinking of doing just that as I have searched and searched on the web and can't find a single word or pic anywhere!
Looks like "Vinnie The Torch" was tying to ID this at the very same time. 8)
Yep, that's me!
I need all the help can get to even begin to keep up with you guys!
On a 1949 magazine cover:
Should it not be "Anwanders" instead of "Anwander's"?
