Title: Solved: PN #158 -- Mátyás Borloy's flashing indicators
Post by: pnegyesi on April 17, 2011, 02:12:04 PM
Here's a tricky one. For a point tell me what is the unique feature of this automobile? You can identify the car very easily, but there's something which makes this particular car exceptional.

You have to guess as there's nothing on this available on the web or in magazines.

It's a Fiat Ritmo.
What could be special about it? It has a slightly larger grill opening in its bumper
Maybe a Diesel engine?

I was going to suggest the Ritmo Strada VSS prototype, but that only works if the frontend has been replaced..

Something to do with the country in which it was built?

In the background there is a Polish 126p (I know, it isn't a great clue), so my first guess is: Bosmal?

Nothing to do with the country and not a Bosmal.

Study the picture - the car carefully

Now, we're getting somewhere. You've got 12 hours to find out what's strange about those mirrors?

And another point for you!

It was constructed by Mátyás Borlóy in Hungary in the mid 1990s. He previously built a one-off, called simply Autó, Magyar Álom (Hungarian Dream) or Mathias, which was featured as a puzzle:

It pre-dated the devices which are being used today by a good 5-7 years

...and trailed the invention of poor Keith Taylor (his story is recounted elsewhere on the net) by 10 years.
