Yes. It's from Finland :)
-
Any relationship to Teijo (both seem to be relative light van-like vehicle)
-
No relation to Teijo.
-
Interesting you say Scandinavia. Those front wheels sure do look a lot like '73 or newer SAAB wheels
exept for the centers are too small.
Could it be SAAB or Scania related? ? ?
No?
-
Any relation to Valmet?
-
Nothing to do with Valmet

In highest level now...

Sisu?

Patria Vehicles?
-
Neither of those. This is a vehicle which is probably only mentioned in Finnish books..
-
Vanaja?
-
No. This company operated in many fields of industry but the vehicle side was very short-lived. The company has changed name a couple of times in its life.
-
Nokia?
-
No. As far as I know Nokia has never made an vehicle. This company was a conglomerate of several heavy metal industrial companies. The name of the original company is virtually unknown these days. This puzzle is not an easy one I'm afraid ;D

And a sawmill. I used to have a contract with them in those days (when a mobile phone was as likely as the communicators on Star Trek!)

Just to make our life a bit easier. I have found several cars which were built in Finland. Is there any info available on this brand on-line? Even in Finnish would be sufficient
-
Yes. There are websites with plenty of pictures but all are in Finnish. This vehicle went beyond a prototype stage and a small series was produced.
-
Mekes 4000 Muuli
The puzzle car is #5 from 10, built in 1966.
-
Wendax has it right! It is indeed a Mekes 4000 "Muuli" ("mule"). Congrats.
Mekes company was based in Parkano in western part of Finland. Here is some translated info. Mekes was founded in 1963 as a conglomerate of several metal industrial companies. In 1965 Mekes started to plan car production. In 1960's Finland there was a great need to enter in automobile industry in some way or another. The idea was to assemble BMW 700 LS car fitted with a Steyr-Puch engine. Production run was estimated to be 16,000 cars a year. At least one prototype was made. Steyr-Puch Haflinger pick-up was another idea. Also in the plans was to produce a two-seat Steyr-Puch sports car. Steyr-Puch however never launched this car called simply "S". It can be seen in Puch Museum in Graz, Austria.
The company managed to design and launch a product of their own; a Mekes 4000. The idea was to merge the qualities of an tractor and 4x4 vehicle. Two prototypes were made and then a limited run of ten vehicles. Three are known to exist. At this time the company suffered financial difficulties and was forced to quit the project. Mekes vehicle was one of the highlights of 2009 Classic car show in Lahti, Finland.

Actually I was referring to Nokia here, not Mekes, of whom I have never heard!
