I have seen a site once with a lot of reminicenses from a busoperator who fled from the russian occupation forces with some of his buses, and who then rebuild his company in the forties, fifties and sixties, but I cannot now find it again. I think his name was Hoffmann or Hoffmannsthal, and the bus is from the early fifties. I don't recall this pic, but one with lots of people around the bus. It had the engine in the back, I think, and it was so well constructed, that another company even built some more of these for other customers....Am I on the right track? (I think they also had links to big bus manufacturer in Germany..)

You remember this right. The name isn't Hoffmann, but Ho_mann (you have to find the missing letter  ;) )

Locked for you.

And this is the picture you remember:

Fahrzeugfabrik Kannenberg FAKA produced this from 1954 on as the FAKA Leichtbus SK 4,5 with a Henschel-engine, but the producer of the prototype apparently was "Stadtverkehr Willy Hohmann Wolfenbüttel", who did busservice in Wolfenbüttel until 1994. He also had a connection with Büssing, a big bus manufacturer in Braunschweig, and he went there when Danzig became Gdansk (eventually). I am not into buses at all, but I came onto this page some time ago when I was reading about Zeppelins, and this guy had been involved with them in the First World War. Anyway, you know the site it comes from, of course.

A well-deserved point for you.

The unaltered picture with the name on it:

Apparently, this is what the serial production looked like
