Title: Solved - Take me to the Matador
Post by: Wendax on January 21, 2011, 03:13:02 PM
My first try to create a group puzzle. Let's see if it will be appreciated  ;)

I start with seven pictures of trucks, all somehow related to the Tempo Matador. After that, you'll find seven pics of products built by those companies (or their predecessors or successors) who modified the before-mentioned Matadors. You can earn one point for each correct combination, if you can also name the company that modified the Matador. May the corrida begin!

BTW, points will be awarded, when the puzzle is completely solved.

Yes, the plane is a Horten.

Matador Match 07 locked for you til your next reply. All other unsolved Matador Matches remain open.

Thanks for the lock but I kind of stuck on that one.

according to my new info Match 7 : Is the Horten H VII with Luftwaffe designation 8-254 which was a training aircraft prototype built by the Peschke factory in Minden.

The problem is that I cannot find any Matador connection with Peschke and as far as I know the firm itself was a furniture building company and knew nothing about aircraft design.

If I take another guess I would connect Match 7 to Matador 3 which seems to be a Matador Reisemobil, and  Peschke maybe built in the furniture???.

Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks on this one with the info so far.

My compliments on this hard to crack puzzle as I've know clue on the other matches.

Congratulations, you've recognized the correct match to the plane, which you also recognized correctly. The company Peschke is correct and the name Reisemobil for the Matador is correct. In my opinion, the point is earned.   :applause:

If you like (just for fun), you can still find out the name of the company, that succeeded Peschke and built the Reisemobil. It is quite well known in connection with Tempo. In fact, if you google "Peschke Reisemobil", you'll find that name on the first page of results. :)

Thank you. and you are probably referring to MIKAFA

To be honest I thought at first that Mikafa would be the company connected to Matador 3, but searching on MIKAFA I could not make a match.
Now I know why  ;)

Yes, it's Mikafa, usually known for their early integral motorhomes, even with BMW V8 engines.

Now I have small problem.

I know for sure that Matador 4: Is a 1958 Jensen Tempo 1500

The only connection to Jensen I did not find mong the matches but among the Matadors. That would be Matador 2  :-\

I think you're starting to have fun. :)

Well done, Amsterdam, the Matador 04 is a Jensen Tempo 1500. Jensen didn't build them, they only rebadged them and sold them as Jensens. And that is the reason, why they also sold the Elevator Truck, which in fact is built by another company. And, bad news for you, there is a Jensen amongst the Matador Matches, and it ain't an Interceptor. ;)

Matador 04 locked for you till your next reply. Good luck!

I am always having fun on AP   ;D

So Matador 4 :  1958 Jensen Tempo 1500
To Match 6: 1951 Jensen (JNSN)Light Weight Commercial ( aluminum and fiberglass body, Perkins diesel engine)

Absolutely correct!

Another point for you. Two Matadors left, Toro!

Perhaps I'll have a go while there are a couple left.

I think Matador 02, the elevator truck, would have been built in about 1951 by Ruthmann of Gescher, Westphalia.

And I think this links with Match 03, which is a Ruthmann Steiger TU700 hydraulic boom truck set up for fire-fighting, and specially designed and built for the city of Rostov am Don, in Russia.

Absolutely correct

That leaves one pair left. No point for the last combination without the right company  ;)

So that leaves Matador 5 and match 4
Is the match a German tractor manufacturer that we're looking for?
Title: Re: Take me to the Matador
Post by: Wendax on January 23, 2011, 11:52:48 AM
You are on the right track. Since many German tractors from the 50s onward were easy to tell their manufacturer just by plain sight, I took an older one. But as I said at the top of the puzzle, the company name is sufficient. You don't have to identify the tractor. It would be nice to identify the Matador, though.

First guess will be : Hanomag Kurier Pritsche ?

No, it's not a Hanomag Kurier.

I think Matador 5 is an Eicher Farm Express from about 1963, made at Forstern, Oberbayern. This was based on a Matador, but had a 3.9-litre diesel engine, and was said to be able to tow a payload of up to 65 tonnes! I am guessing that Match 4 is an Eicher tractor, but I haven't been able to make a positive identification. An early 22 PS model, perhaps?

Yes, it's the Eicher Farm-Express. Quite an impressive work-horse. Since I'm not that much into tractors either, I can't tell you which model the match is. Below you can see the original ad.

Well done, gentlemen. The points go to:

Amsterdam (4 points)
Tom_I (2 points)
hondast (1 point)
