Title: Solved: Wendax 163 - Artz Cordett
Post by: Wendax on May 09, 2011, 02:32:32 AM
A car like an espresso - small, strong and black.

For one point, please respond and identify this car, its base and the year of appearance.

This is the Opel Kadett Artz Cordett

Firma Artz built this car as a Corvette on the body of an Opel Kadett E in 1986

Yes, it is the Artz Cordett. The base car is a 1984 Chevrolet Corvette, on which an Opel Kadett E body was built. It had to be widened, lengthened and altered in order to fit the different wheelbase.

I saw the car at the "Oldtimertreffen Lübeck-Blankensee" a week ago. It is quite impressive. Quite funny looking are the two small back seats between the huge Corvette wheelhouses.

I am not sure about any year. I found 3. One is explained (1984), but I also found 1986 and 1989. Can anybody shine any light?

I'm not quite sure myself. I found those three dates myself. In 1986 it was made road legal, so I guess the build was finished then. In 1989 there was an article in auto motor und sport about the car.

To add some confusion: I looked at my notes from last week-end and saw that the current owner claims the Cordett being from 1989.

If I remember the Oldtimer Markt article right, there was just one Cordett. Since it has red licence plates from Hanover, the home town of Artz, I guess it is the same car at an earlier stage, being altered later on to keep the looks actual.
