A really hot car.
For one point, please respond and identify this car by telling its name, what it is based on and when this picture was taken.

No expert able to extinguish the fire, professional help needed
German?
No
Perhaps it's not European?
No, it is European.
North European? Say, Swedish?
Not Scandinavian
Laystall Special?
No
Do you know if this car raced at Brooklands?
In its former life, yes
A few possibles for this one.
Can we eliminate that this was formerly the Albert Divo Hotchkiss?
We can eliminate that.
I'm finding this one a bit difficult to identify at the moment.
Is (was) it one of the Bluebird Napier-Campbells?
No, but close
Well I think that would be the John Cobb Napier Railton.
When it was used as GQ Parachutes' test vehicle it had that frontal treatment, which was unlike the pre-war front end, so I expect that was part of the work done to disguise it for the film "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman". I assume this photo comes from that film, and if so you want the name of the "character" the car played in that film. Can't remember it I ever knew it.
I think the film came out in 1951 or 52 by which time the car was with GQ - presumably the photo/film dates from about 1949

Yes, it is the John Cobb Napier-Railton in the movie "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman". In my source it says the car was called Pandora. The year you mentioned is good enough. One well-earned point for you.
Pandora Reynolds was the character played by Ava Gardner, and the car was owned by Stephen Cameron, played by Nigel Patrick.
As the car was pushed off a cliff as a token of what he'd do for her love, I don't think the car would have already been called Pandora.
A better picture:
