I know the Rookies section is overflowing but I'll post some new ones and move them up a level if there is no Rookie response.

Anyway, let's start with a single-seater from a long time ago.
What is the make, year and who is at the wheel?

1949?  AFM?  Hans Stuck?
Duncan Rollo

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

The year is 1949 but it's not a German car

Up to the Pros for a quick answer?

It's an Italian SVA 1500 by Ugo Puma. From my memory: 1952 1950?
The driver should be Rudi Fischer, I guess.

This is the SVA 1500 but the year is earlier (just) then 1950.
Driver is not Rudi Fischer though but very much associated with the car.
Locked for you to complete...

Virgilio Conrero? And the year is gonna be 1949 then, I guess.

1949 is correct but the driver is not.
Have another try for the driver - his surname begins with 'S'
Still locked for you.

Must be Giovanni Savonuzzi then...

The attached appears to be a rather strange picture, though... Don't know the original source, but seems quite aged.

That's who I have at the wheel.
I'm starting to doubt my source's accurateness though....
Anyway the point is yours and I'll leave the driver off in the solved title at the moment.

Allemano

My book source (at home) calls the car Savonuzzi SVA 1500 itself. More infos soon.

faksta

Savonuzzi was involved, but SVA was the make. According to 'La Sport...' it stood for Societa Valdostana Automobili.

nicanary

The driver is almost certainly Rudi Fischer. (Just my two-pennorth.......)
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

This is correct. The photo shows Virgilio Conrero behind the wheel during testing. More from the same session:
