It was a British company, but the cars were built elsewhere in Europe.

Correct! Another point to you.

It is a 12hp Taunton.

Taunton was an English manufacturer that leased the ex Hermes factory in Belgium to build its cars, however this was just before WW1 and the factory and all it's contents were requisitioned by the German army. The planned re-introduction of the cars in 1920 failed because of financial difficulties.
