Nelm Clark, 16-year old Washington, D.C., youngster, combined a lawn mower motor with a set of motorcycle gears to make this unusual midget auto. Costing $60 to build, the contraption weighs only 150 pounds. It was built in 1937 and called Nelmobile.

It didn't even happen to come up this way. I googled "lawnmower engine" and a guessed year, and this picture turned up. To my surprise, I recognized the source.  ;D
