It is, in fact, a 1980 Alfa 6. What possessed them to equip it with 6 single barrel del 'ortos is beyond me.

Alfa were going through a bad patch.
I remember when this car was announced they said it had deliberately downbeat styling, as Italy at the time was plagued with kidnappings, and the kidnappers particularly targetted upmarket cars.  So the thinking was that if the car didn't look upmarket but looked a bit dull the kidnappers wouldn't target them!  Presumably kidnappers didn't read car magazines so didn't realise this was an expensive Alfa...!

Traditionally big Alfas have always been flops, so it's more likely they wanted to continue the long tradition...!

Honestly, I never knew this model even existed until a couple of weeks ago. Never seen one. I was actually looking at an Alfetta sports sedan when I came across it. Started of thinking about buying it instead but then found out that it is an early model with six carbs!  No wonder they didn't sell many. Their target market, the executive, was not going to put up with taking it to the shop to get tuned up every six months.
