Okay let's try this

17 and "B" - The Chevrolet Corvair Lakewood station wagon was launched 17 months after the Corvair Sedan?

Interesting - I didn't know that!

That's not the match I'm after.

It's probably not true, I just guessed! The Corvair came out in '59 and the wagon didn't appear until '61 - I thought there was a slim chance a total of 17 months had elapsed between the two events!

17 and "H", Packard Eight Station Sedan, 1948-50.

28 and B - Chevrolet Corvair Station Wagon, percent:

QuoteThe aluminum in the engine weighs only 92 lbs, or 28% of the total car weight.

Otto Puzzell

Interesting guess, but no.

Sorry, but the mathematician in me has some doubts about the quoted "fact". If 92 lb was 28 % of the car's weight, the Corvair would have weighed just 328 lb. Quite a lightweight  :D

I knew they were a bit flimsy - now I know why!

I'm struggling with this last one, 28 and "B", the Corvair Lakewood Station Wagon.

All I have come up with so far, and this is from people fitting the engines into light aircraft, is that a Corvair engine is 28 inches wide and 28 inches long.

Apart from that, I'm stumped!

neilshouse

I've struggled to find a connection too.

The best I can come up with is that the words 'Chevrolet Corvair Station Wagon' have 28 letters.

Otto Puzzell

The answer is more mechanical in nature.

28 psi rear tyre pressure?

Otto Puzzell

That's it! The rear tire pressure (cold) for a Corvair station wagon is 28 PSI. Well done!

I'll tally up the points and close this tomorrow. I'll post a pic of the tire pressure sticker then, as well.  :)
