Not quite, but you're getting a bit closer. Like I said before, not a Fiat...

I'm quite sure that the base is an Indian Premier Padmini (local version of Fiat 1100 D), but I don't know this estate conversion.

Quite right, it is based on a Premier Padmini!

I'm feeling generous so I'll lock this for your next answer as it shouldn't be too hard to dig up the facts about this now

Thanks. And actually it was not so hard to find inormation on the web indeed.

It's built by SAB (Starline Auto Builders) and it should be a sort of prototype with 118NE parts (like the headlamps) to look a little bit more modern.

Exactly right, but you are missing one tiny piece of the puzzle

Premier Padmini SAB-XXXXXX by Starline Auto Builders

(The number of Xs is not the number of letters/numbers you are looking for!)

Still locked for you

It's noted somewhere as SAB-25, but I'm not sure this is the actual model name...

Yes, that's correct. This is a special long wheelbase version of SAB's more common estate car conversion on the Padmini base. I believe the '25' part relates to how much extra length has been added (in Centimetres, presumably). Like you said the headlights are from the later style 118NE but this isn't so much a prototype as a commercially available coachbuilt model - though built in very tiny numbers.

Interesting story.
Perhaps do you know if they ever made similar conversions (or anything else) on the base of the 118NE?
