Not as easy at looks - so what did it start out as and why is it special...

A Nova Sterling, based on VW Beetle ?
It is special because it has no doors, the top moves with the windscreen.

It is a nova body - but the opening top isn't the reason this example is special

This modified Nova is unusual for being Subaru-powered with a flat-four engine.

Incidentally the first of my puzzles that made it through to the pros
