Who knows this car?
Up one step.
Nothing to say about this one?
Fiat based?
It´s not italian at all, sorry.
French?
Not french.
I´ll promote this one to the pros.
Czech?
No.
Shall I ask? An Austrian one-off? ;)
In this case I must say: NO! :D
Austrian non one-off?
It is not from Austria and I think there were more than this one.
Switzerland?
Not swiss.
At this event there attended at least 5 different racing coupe´s and even one convertible version.
So it was a factory effort?
The darned thing has a resemblance to a teardrop Talbot-Lago. So.....based on a perusal of my reference files, I'll ask if it's a 1939 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS Aerocoupe 330 by Pourtout?
QuoteSo it was a factory effort?
Yes.
QuoteThe darned thing has a resemblance to a teardrop Talbot-Lago.
But it is not even french...
:bag: Oops!
I´ve never seen this in my life before, too.
No need to hide Ray! ;)
German, pre-war?
Yes.
Is it a Stoewer?
Wanderer?
QuoteStoewer?
No
Quote
Wanderer?
No.
But the make is quite known and not too exotic - carry on!
Hanomag?
Opel-based?
LOCKED for FAKSTA!
It is a Hanomag.
Maybe a diesel Hanomag Rekord and Anne-Cecile Rose-Itier at the 1937 Rallye du Maroc (1937 Maroc car was an open top, it seems) 1939 Rallye Monte Carlo?
I do not think it´s a diesel, but it most probably is a Hanomag Rekord.
Give me the right engine cacity and you´ve got the point.
(it is not the Rallye Maroc car)
Well, if it's a rally Monte Carlo from 1939, then it may indeed be a diesel car, according to various sources (can't guarantee the didn't take info from each other, though). Hanomag Rekord Diesel had an engine capacity of 1910cc.
It´s not a Rally Monte Carlo car.
This is why I said it was no diesel.
The engine did not have 1,9 liter , but...?
...1,5 liter? Otherwise, feel free to unlock it for all, as I'm just guessing now.
You´ve finally equalled my points and I´m sure you will overtake me soon!
I know! I know! I know!
Must be a 1931 Coupe Internationale des Alpes, Lilian Roehrs?

Oh, indeed :P Thanks! :)
I´ve given you the point immediately after your 1,5 liter guess. I´ve heard all the facts I´ve wanted to hear. And it is a 1938 car...
Do you have the info about what race it is then?
Alpenfahrt 1938 ;)
By the way: there was a 2250ccm version, too!
It isn't easy to find information about 1938 Hanomags.
Is it actually a 1.5 liter? Hanomag ruled the 1.1 liter class during the 1930's.
The puzzle car and another Hanomag coupé with a different starting number were listed as 1498ccm cars.
The second car in my last post and another one was listed as 2250ccm cars.

Especially for a rally dumb like me :P
Here are the listings of the Hanomag works teams in the 1500 and 2250ccm class (the puzzle car was #154):
And another photo:
Another picture of the bigger engined Sturm Sportlimousine:
And one more:
A couple years ago a couple hundred Carl Zapletal (sometimes referred to as Karl Zapletal) glass plate negatives were unearthed in Vienna. Beyond that only a few original photos appear, though he must have made thousands of pictures - he was at all Austrian and most of the Hungarian races from the 1920s to the 2nd WW
I guess I have a couple of hundreds of Zapletal photos or better magazine scans on my HDD, too:
yes, you can find online a good selection of his pictures in scanned magazines. However as a researcher I focus on the original negatives /photos. And that's a totally different thing
Agreed...

When I looked out of the tram window these days I discovered the still existing Zapletal shop sign in Vienna. Nowadays the facilities are used by a restaurant.
