What's the make and model designation of this car?

Zanza

Quiller

Yup - Nissan Baby.
Interestingly, until very recently this was Nissan's only ever attempt at a micro-class car

What's this car and from when does it date - for 1 point?:

1965 Datsun Baby, 199cc and based on the Cony Guppy. 105 were built from old-stock Cony parts specially for the "Children's World" amusement park in Kanagawa prefecture.

Datsun Baby 1965

It is a Datsun Baby, yes.
I have a different year but I'm not 100% sure I believe it.
Have another look and see if you can find definitive proof of your year or the year I have.
Locked for you.

Sorry Trommel but you were just beaten to it.
It's interesting though that you also say 1965...
Let's see what morphly says!

My only reference to the year 1965 comes from the picture title.

But I found out that the car was built by Aichi Machine Industry Company, and this company became part of the Nissan Group in 1965. So if it really goes by the name Datsun, the year should be at least 1965.

morphly

think I made a typo, it should be 1956 instead of 1965.

Trommel

Definitely 1965, as above they were built from old-stock Cony Guppy parts - the Guppy did not enter production until 1963.

Carnut

Well, here we have a discrepancy because I also have this car as 1956.
At first I thought it didn't look right for 1956 but there were other Japanese kei cars of around this period that had similarities so I figured it is right.

I cannot find 1965 mentioned anywhere in connection with this car, but several sites quote 1956 so I'm going to give the point to morphly; if Trommel can prove that 1965 is in fact correct then you can have a point too..

However this turns out to be a recent repost, although it's described as a Nissan Baby rather than a Datsun Baby on the other puzzle; searches on the Internet produce no results for such a car but several results for a Datsun Baby.  I am in any case merging the puzzles but am still open to comments and further proof!

There's not a lot on the internet about them in English - I will wade back through some Google tranaslations tomorrow.

There's a Japanese language site, where the designer was interviewed. This car was made in 1965
