What's this, who built it and when - for 1 point ? :)
from France?
Brutsch?
Not French and not Brutsch !
Greetings all, first post here!
Is it a 1949 Bristol 402, built in England by Bristol Aircraft? :-\
I have no great confidence in this answer. Still, one must start somewhere.
Hello Zerk, welcome to Autopuzzles ;
regrettably it is not a Bristol ! :)
German?
Partially !
Experts ?
The front half reminded me a bit of the Peel(?)-bodied 356-lookalike MGA, TYE 83.
German underpinnings (Gutbrod?) or German coachbuilder (Rometsch?)?
Yes ,German coachbuilder !
But not Rometsch?
Not Rometsch !
I think it is a Wendler VW Ponton-Cabrio, 1950.
Is that the right answer?
Yes , Wendler but not a VW !

That's a shame because I've just found out what it is ...
Sorry , but you found German coachbuilder and Facel found wendler ; can expect 24 hours ?
You are right, it is a Wendler MG Ponton-cabriolet, 1952
Which MG ? and I have an other year !
Unlocked !
1951 MG TD Sportcabriolet by Wendler
(with a Höchstgeschwindigkeit of 125 km/h!)
I would say the same, Midget TD but my source said 1952...
1951 on the only decent picture I've found (as per the puzzle).
Yes , 1951 MG TD Sportcabriolet by Wendler !
1 point for sixtee5cuda !
And sorry for Facel and Trommel
Built for the MG dealer Mölders from Heidelberg, known as a racing driver.
We had one of his specials here before:

I don't wanna be cocky but my source (a book about Wendler off Ralf Kieselbach) said it is 1952.
There was another MG roadster which was made in 1951.
This is probably the original of the puzzle picture. Not sure where it originally appeared, and this is the only such image I found online.
