For 1 point, what is this car, who designed it and from when does it date?

Google Search by Image continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Search by Image as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Yes, it's a BMW prototype, although I have it as a slightly different model, a different year and a different designer..!
But, my source it not specially noted for its accuracy so may not be right.
Can you PM me with any proof of what you say (or post it if you wish)?
Locked for you in the meantime.

I'm VERY disappointed that no Rookie guessed this was an Alfa!

BMW 1600 prototype (designation by the media and no connection with the cars of the sixties), first seen on the road in 1959, design by Wilhelm Hofmeister.

Very good!
That's the car all right.
Had Hofmeister started there already, along with his kink?!
He's not the name I'm looking for though (which as I said may not be right) so please have another go and see if you can match what I have..
Still locked for you!

My source had attributed this car to Alex von Falkenhausen, but he won't have done the bodywork so you may well be right when you say Goertz.

Since I don't know for sure I'll call this one solved!

Alex von Falkenhausen did mostly engines for BMW. According to my source, he drove the car on the road to a visit of the Rallye Monte Carlo 1959.

Despite some detail differences, I guess this is the same car? (or at least from the same series of prototypes)
