What is it based on? (probably not that hard)
Who built it? (a little harder I guess)

Wrong on both counts.
I'm running out of Mercedes-Benz chassis with pointed radiators and spoke wheels. So was it built on a chassis usually featuring a flat radiator like Typ Nürburg?
The model I'm looking for has a pointed radiator, but less pronounced and not every car of that series.
Keep on searching, you surely will find it
Typ 500?
But we are talking about a car chassis, not a van chassis like L3/4 or L500 or such?

regarding the numeric value reply#11 was closest so far...

Yes finally, but unfortunately that was the easy part of the puzzle.

The search engine shows nought.
Schebera?

Schebera?
No. Schebera was already defunct when this bus was built.
Did the coachbuilder also body cars?

Did the coachbuilder also body cars?
No, busses only. I don't know if they ever bodied a passenger car.
Did the coachbuilder still exist after WW2?
Raschke?

Closest so far. (geographically)
Peter Bauer?
No, but you're getting another step closer.
Gebr. Eickhoff?
Wilhelm Hermanns, Porz a. Rhein?
I´d say this may be a Kässbohrer design.
They´re still known for their buses and this must have been a very rich company, that may have used it for quite exclusive tours.
Mercedes S (620) chassis, ca.1929-1930.
I have found a similar vehicle named "Reiselust" in a book, where it ran for a company "J.Nerbl" from Weilheim in Bavaria.

Wilhelm Hermanns, Porz a. Rhein?
No, but it is from a Rhine city.

Not Kässbohrer, more obscure I'm afraid.
They must be twins then... :-\
I can see some very little differences at the fenders, but they are clones - who was first?

To the south, so it's not D'dorf.

Between Cologne and Koblenz?
Karosseriewerke Mannheim?
Not from Neuwied and not Mannheim either.

I understand that the founding family has left the company a long time ago, but they're still in business under the same name.
It appears that they don't built complete bodies anymore, though.

Köster?
freely adapted from Gary Lineker: "Autopuzzles is a simple game; a lot of men try to solve a mystery and at the end, Wendax wins."
But I highly doubt the text under the photo that claims it to use a 1934 Mercedes 290 chassis, to be honest!
In the text they say that in 1934 Köster had built an exclusive bus - which is much more likely the puzzle car on a 1920´s chassis like the 620S...

Prove the source to be wrong and earn yourself another point.
I keep my doubts, too. I still think it's a Typ 400 or 630. The hood is too high above the wheels for a Typ S.
Nevertheless, this was hard work. But one part of the text sounds like another puzzle, doesn't it?

Maybe another KBFS K'lautern car.
