A strange machine and a bad photo! For a point, what is this and what is its mechanical base?
http://www.autopuzzles.com/ :)
This is probably the first and only time this sad-looking car has enjoyed star staus. Thank you.
Like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree, maybe it just needs a little love.
Time for some Expert loving!
Fairthorpe ?
I know Fairthorpe made some ugly cars, but nothing this bad, so no; not a Fairthorpe :P
Gatso?
Berkeley?
Neither a Gatso, nor a Berkeley.
European ?
Australian?
It's not Australian, but it is European.
Time for the Pros to shoot the dog!
First question - is it British?
I'm appalled to say it is! :-\
Ford based?
Yes, Ford-based. Any idea which model?
Perhaps a Ford 8/10hp?
No, it's a rather more recent Ford than a 8/10hp.
Ford Prefect?
More recent than a Prefect.
Cortina?
Not a Cortina.
The windsheild might be from an Escort
I'm not sure about the origins of the windscreen, but an Escort is not the mechanical base.
How about a Capri?
Not a Capri either.
Taunus?
Zephyr?
Neither a Taunus nor a Zephyr!
Corsair?
More recent than a Corsair (and Taunus, Cortina, Capri...)
Granada?
Very close-ish. Try again.
Sierra?
No, getting colder.
Consul?
Still cold!
Zodiac?
That looks like a Ford Anglia windscreen to me..
Still not sure about the windscreen, but an Anglia is noty the mechanical base.
Yes, a Ford Scorpio is the base, worryingly with a 3-litre V6 engine! Now all I need is the name of this stange car's creator, so locked to you until your next reply.
Forgive the leap-in while locked, but I do know this one - and it's NOT based on a Scorpio...

I think it would be wise now to wait until the base car is established........ :-\
Would it help if I said that, as far as my info goes, Wendax is right - it's Sierra based?
Ah ha, just goes to show that you can't believe all you read! This car was advertised using Sierra 4x4 running gear, but I have spoken to the builder, and it does in fact use a Scorpio 4x4 as its mechanical base. So, who made this thrilling machine for a point?
If it's unlocked, I'll tell you tomorrow!
It is now unlocked, so tell away...
It's by a Somerset-based chap called Peter Oates ;)
That's the chap, as this is indeed the (mercifully one-off) Oates Roadster V6, based around a Ford Scorpio, and never completed. Another point to you.
Didn't Scorpios have 5-lug wheels?
