This is the 1946 BMW ERN Special, Built By Friedrick Hans Ern in 46 on a 1935 BMW 319 chassis originally delivered to Max Tell on the 26 November 1935.
Herr Ern was a bit of a Play Boy for his time and commissioned the build of this great little car to use many 328 components and an Alloy body which I believe was built by 'Drews' of Wuppertal. I think that it spent a short time it was raced with a Simca engine before receiving its 328 engine.
It was restored by TT Workshops Ltd (now Bristol Engineering Ltd) in 1994 after being in a Museum for some time.
It is still looked after Bristol Engineering and is still in Private ownership, it can be seen still on European rally's.
I guess you know this car personally then James?!

Yes, that's it and thank you for your interesting reply.
I'm also happy to give you your first point and perhaps seeing some more of the cars you have dealt with.
This car (or one of them) was at the 2012 Brussels Motor Show a couple of weeks back ...
Welcome, james@bristolengineering!
I think is great to meet and hear from the source itself.
Car creators always have something else to say!!!

Absolutely not.
Only using Google Image Search is classed as cheating.
People with knowledge may use it to their best advantage!
Great authentic stuff! :)
