Keeping the Rookie puzzles topped up again.....

For one point identify the make, model, year and coachbuilder.

This is a bit of a guess, Delage D6, 1939 with a Chapron body?

Good guess but I'm afraid it's not a Delage, nor built in 1939 and Chapron didn't build the body.......

It's a French car?
The base car is French but the bodywork is not....

Is Hispano Suiza French? Looks like maybe a Van Vooren body?

Hispano-Suiza is French or Spanish but it's not that.
Coachwork is not Vanvooren (that's French) and not that either....

Craig Gillingham

Is it a Talbot-Lago?

Was it an expensive car when new?

Was it an expensive car when new?
I would imagine so - it's a coachbuilt car not a production line one.

Craig Gillingham

ok, how about a Georges Irat? is the body English made?

Not a Georges Irat - you were closer with your previous replies.
The coachwork is not British.

Salmson, 1937 or earlier?

Salmson, 1937 or earlier?
More expensive than a Salmson (I believe) and you are a decade out with the year...

There can't be too many possible cars left, Hotchkiss 686?

Hotchkiss - not that marque.
Not so many remaining but it is one of the best known..... ;)

Delahaye? I haven't said that before because the hubcaps and radiator sides don't look right (to me).

Yes it's a Delahaye!
I agree with your comments but perhaps the owner/coachbuilder was responsible for that?

Here's another view -

Hmm.. That isn't how I was picturing the front to look. Is the coachwork Swiss?

Not Swiss but it is European

It's a 1947 Delahaye by Vanden Plas...at least that's how I have it listed.
