Title: Solved - MJW #926 - Graves Crosley Special 1956
Post by: woodinsight on May 15, 2012, 02:49:17 PM
Identify this small sports racer for one point - what it was based on and who built it will be sufficient.

The tail looks Austin Healey.  Is it a re-engined one?

Could be.  I'm a 1947 vintage.  I did a little SCCA racing in the 60s, then ran H Production for a very short time in the early 70s.

The car appears to be one of several Crosley specials that competed in the H Modified class.  Am I close?

Yes, you are close - it is one of the H-Mod Crosley specials.
Question is which one?
I just need the name of the guy who built it for the point.
For your information the car still exists in restored form.
LOCKED for you until your next reply.

Not that one although the body may well be Almquist...

The body could be by Almquist but my source doesn't reveal that.
Perhaps when the builder is revealed body details will also come to light.....

Yes, that's the car.
Built by Joe Graves in the 1950s and fitted with a Crosley engine.
