1 point for the correct identification of this car and where it was built:

Google Search by Image continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Search by Image as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Normac-Chevrolet Special from New Zealand?

That is indeed what this car originally raced as, yes, although it has had different incarnations since.
So what is it now?
Locked for you!

Well that was a lucky guess as I haven't yet come across the same picture as the puzzle car.
Let me carry out more research this evening to try to find the answer.

The following is what I have found out so far -
The Normac-Chevrolet Special appeared for the first time at the 1955 New Zealand GP driven by Reg McCutcheon.
It's last appearance on the entry list was at the 1959 event.
As far as I can tell the car was also known as the Wayne Chevrolet Special.
Today it is owned by Goldie Carpenter and was recently run for the first time in over 50 years!

I still didn't trace your photo of the puzzle car but did come across a photo of the Normac-Chevrolet with Reg McCutcheon at the 1955 New Zealand GP (see below)

You're making good progress!
You've established where it was built (New Zealand) also what it was originally known as.
I'm going to be away for a week (back 18th June) so it's locked for you until then to come up with as much as you can.
So to re-cap, what was it known as in the puzzle picture?
And what's more I'll give you another point if you can say when and where the puzzle photo was taken!

Okay, thanks - back to the search......... :)

Finally found it on one of my favourite sites......  ;)

The car was originally built as the Normac Special with a Wayne equipped 235 cu in Chevrolet in-line six.
It then became known as the Chev Special when owned by Arthur Spargo.
The puzzle picture was taken at the Te Onepu Hillclimb at Hawkes Bay, New Zealand in 1961 when it was called the AC Special driven by the then owner, C.J.S. "Colvin" Algie. It was powered by a 216 cu in Chevrolet in-line six in virtually standard form.

The original photo in unaltered but lightly cropped form -

There you go!
Not so hard was it?
And it's another point added.

Thanks - it wasn't that difficult but with so many sites bookmarked...... :-\
Time to rationalise the way I search the 'net methinks

Second point added! I forgot the extra point!
