Bizzarini?

That's the (very) easy bit.
But it doesn't answer the puzzle...

1967 500hp

I'm afraid you'll have to be a lot more specific about its name and its engine for the point...
1967 is also not right!

Not 1965
Not a Chevrolet engine
Not a 5300 GT
Otherwise OK!

Ford engine - yes; which one?
Not 1964 though.

Not a Chevy engine but Ford. That's a surprise.
I want to know more now!

Is this the NEMBO 7000 Bizzarrini? It apparently was powered by a 7-liter Holman/Moody Ford V8. I'd have to say 1966...

Avalanche has already suggested that one and I said "No."

The engine is, I believe, correct but it's not the answer I'm looking for.

I'll have to look into my source further to see if I'm missing something since 2 have now come up with that answer, but I don't believe so.

Chassis 0246, supposedly fitted with GT40 running gear and a fully-trimmed interior by Sbarro in 1968 for Pierre de Siebenthal. Still exists in modified form.

That's the car, yes!  Well done.
I don't know which GT40 engine it has; there is some doubt about whether it's the 4.7 or 7.0 litre engine so if anyone knows for sure I'd like to hear!

Although the Swiss history fits, there is conflicting information about 0246 - it has a Chevrolet 427 big-block, not a Ford. If the Sbarro car is a different one, the chassis number isn't obvious (0106 has a factory-fitted 427 Chevy).

Carnut

I must say I haven't been able to find a great deal out about this car.
The following comes from the 'site where I found it:

QUOTE
On the catalog published by the ACA in 1968 is a 7-liter Bizzarrini Stradale, classified in the "Transformations". The owner could not stand the mechanical problems of this car, he asked Franco Sbarro, at the very beginning of the ACA, to replace the engine through a mechanical Ford GT40. Sbarro made some luxury development on the inside.
QUOTE

But if it was mechanical problems he wanted to avoid then perhaps the best way wasn't to fit a 7-litre Ford engine.  The 4.7 might have been more suitable, but of course less powerful.

Maybe it's been replaced by the Chevy engine again?

I don't know that the purported Sbarro big-block car is 0246 - but 0246 it was sold into Switzerland, has a 427, has supposedly been in Sbarro's hands, was later restored and re-bodied in fibreglass by Salvatore Diomante etc.

Aye and there's the rub.  Both Ford and Chevy had 427 motors at roughly the same time.  Displacement alone doesn't tell the tale.  To be very pedantic about it, Chevy's 427 is a Mk IV big block; Ford's is a "medium" or FE block.

Quoted text from a gentleman I consider to be one of the foremost authorities on Bizzarrinis...

QuoteI am not sure R***** M****'s #246 is the car. When I visited Diomante he told me that the present #246 didn't have any chassis number stamped when it left his workshop .....

The Sbarro family couldn't help me either. No records and photos in the archives ....

I presume with #106 they mean #BA4 0106, the 1966 Le Mans racer. That car never was at Sbarro.

Not that it matters a whole lot- just thought I'd share the info...
