Solved - NEH 2096: Panhard Dyna X by Ghia-Aigle - 1954
« on: February 16, 2009, 08:21:53 AM »
Hello! Could anyone tell me who is the real builder of this car? Michelloti? Allemano? And maybe anyone knows what is the real name of this car? Are the cars in both pictures the same?

As far as I know it was built by GHIA AIGLE and designed by G. Michelotti. Sources are available on the internet. (more than you need!)

The sources are misleading. Some have Michelotii, some also means Allemano, etc.

Is the car in both pictures the came?

Allemano was a coachbuilding company not a single designer. Michelotti drawed many cars for them!

Serafino Allemano was a designer himself, started in Turin in 1928. In 1935 he eliminated the repair work in his factory and focused on the creative side. Mario, his nephew joined in 1945.

Carrozzeria Allemano was an automobile coachbuilder in Turin, Italy, owned by Serafino Allemano and was established in 1928.
Allemano made various cars based on their own designs, and in some cases, externally made designs, such as those by Michelotti.
Some of the earlier cars were Ferrari 166S, Alfa Romeo 2500 and Lancia Aurelia.
For Fiat Allemano created three Fiats 1100 TV (designed by Michelotti, 1954), Fiat 600 (1955-1958), a few Abarths 750, Fiat 850 and Fiat 2200.
For Maserati it made 21 Maserati A6G 2000/54, prototype designs for Maserati 3500 (1957), and 22 Maserati 5000 (1959-1965), many of these designed by Michelotti.
There was also a Jaguar XK140, an Aston Martin DB2/4 (1953) a Panhard Dyna, as well as Renault Dauphine specials.

Carrozzeria Allemano ceased to exist in 1965.

Usually the name "Allemano" is linked with coachbuilding activies or am I wrong?  ;)

You are right, probably I misread your words. Allemano is just like Nuccio Bertone, Giacinto Ghia, Giovan Battista (Pinin) Farina, Ugo Zagato, etc...a designer and a coachbuilder's firm.  Each one of them is a coachbuilding company but also a designer, because they actually design their own cars.

Found it!

I put 'Panhard Dyna X Coupé' into Google and put the pictures on 'red' ... and there it was: it's a one-off 1954 Panhard Ghia-Aigle Coupé. It was presented at the Geneva Motor Show and was placed on a Panhard Dyna Junior chassis.

There is a small film about it on Youtube, but I don't know if I can put the link here?

Yes, that's it - well done!
Although the video would no doubt be of interest to many AutoPuzzlers links are not allowed, with no exceptions.
Anyone who wants it can always PM you for it; I would like to see it so can you send me the address of the link by PM please?
Many thanks.

I won't put a link on here (as the rules say), but there's nothing to it: just go to Youtube and type in 'Panhard Ghia-Aigle' ... for those who are interested.
