PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY:
Note! Only one ID attempt per day, by AutoPuzzles member, is allowed in this puzzle.
* Multiple guesses with a 24 hour span will result in the second and subsequent guess being scrubbed, and you may be precluded from further participation in this puzzle.
* Once you post an ID attempt, you must wait 24 hours from the time stamp on that post until you make your next ID attempt.
Now, on to the fun
I use to take a lot from books, now it's time to give some credits.
Here you are 39 books and 38 cars. I took 1 pic from each book but one.
You'll have to match them...some are quite easy, some others can be quite tricky, unless you have those books!
Only a complete answer will earn a point!
1 bonus point for the book that will be left out: ONLY IF YOU FIND IT BEFORE THE LAST BUT ONE MATCH.
1 bonus point for the reason of the title of this puzzle: ONLY WHEN ALL THE MATCHES HAVE BEEN FOUND.
(Thank you Otto ;) )

Correct!
It was one of the tricky ones...
You can guess the (quite easy) reason for the title after the last match will be found. ;)
I will award points at the end of the puzzle.

You are right, I thought it was not going to happen.
...but I don't like drastic measures, especially when it's all about a game.
I copied Otto's rules but honestly I prefer not to apply them strictly.
If everyone agrees I'll change them slightly.

As usual I have ready a solution:
We can't guess today:

We can, but we have to take a look at the time:
João
What are we waiting for:

Ooops, I thought 1 day - 1 guess :( Sorry, will be back on Wednesday then, it is getting too complicated for me
After each guess you should wait 24h.
Your last correct guess was yesterday, 10:30PM but it came in the same day than your previous one, this is the only reason why you will have a go again tomorrow (and not today), past 10:30PM.
-
Do we get a bonus point if we can show we understand the rules?!
-
I'm sure I can't explain simple things :D...it happens when it's not your language and you have to find your way through the words you know to express an idea but, hey...there is just 1 rule here...1 guess and after 24h you can guess again! ;D

Unfortunately my library is still in store for a few more weeks so I can't answer any of the others at the moment...........frustrating! :(
Great puzzle though and it's prompted me to order a couple of books that I didn't know about.
-
Wendax will have them on his list!
Unfortunately, I own less than ten of those books. :(
-
And I, but one.
C'est la vie.
-
You do not need to have them to answer.
I chose these particular books because (some of them at least) they have a particular subject: italian\brazilian\french\british\spanish\belgian\dutch\swiss\australian\hungarian cars or buggies, mini and vw-based cars or racing cars from DDR-Italy-Usa, plus some kit cars...I mixed the pics to make it difficult (you'll find different vw-based cars or buggies) but if you know the car you can guess a book!

Oguerrerob, I'm sure you got the rule.
Why couldn't you wait 80 minutes? I'm taking note of your replies and, for example, Wendax waited till the exact hour to post his reply 31 seconds after, 1 1\2 minutes Woodinsight, 1 3\4 minutes Carnut. I'm sure it's frustrating for them too.
I said I don't like drastic measures and I won't exclude you for such a small thing. On the other hand, to respect others, I won't accept your guess till tomorrow, past 07.53am.

12 minutes Carnut.

3 of you will het 2 points and
6 of you will get 1 point.
11 points still out there...

I'm annoyed, firstly because there are so many books there that I would love to own... and secondly because I totally missed this puzzle. I haven't been too frequent a visitor here for a while, I should know by now that I'll regret not looking at Autopuzzles at least once a day... :D
Can I make a request? Can you post a list of the remaining unsolved cars please? It's quite annoying having to try and work out which ones are left by process of elimination...

Car#2 - dune buggy with no name, I believe. "Four Wheeler magazine did much to publicise the growing off-road trend". Book #4.

Barrett: eight cars are missing: 2,8,9,11,18,28,29,33

AAAARRRRRGHHH!!! It was only a typo! Pleeeeeeaaase!
there's no need to wait 24h (see Reply#84).
PJ featured 7 books and 6 cars. Again, am I blind here?
No, you are not.
I wrote it at the beginning:
Here you are 39 books and 38 cars. I took 1 pic from each book but one
and
1 bonus point for the book that will be left out: ONLY IF YOU FIND IT BEFORE THE LAST BUT ONE MATCH
-
If you guess a wrong match, you can guess again, I won't tell you if the car is right, but everyone can have a go.
It happened 4 times, with Arunas (I told him the guess was not correct and to wait because he broke the rule posting several guesses) with Saco, who corrected himself and now with João and Allemano.
If you do not have the books you will have to guess and there will be no need to wait 24h, then.
-
Okay, let's change to book #29, then. I already gave the right title I suppose...
-
And you are correct!
-
I guessed as much this morning, when I browsed through the book 3 times to no avail :)
-
Allemano, you were guessing the odd one out or the book with car number 38?
-
Allemano, you were guessing the odd one out or the book with car number 38?
Ok, I think someone made a mistake.
It can be solved only with fairplay.
Allemano, if your guess was that book #29 is the one from which I did not take a pic, you are twice wrong, 1st because it's not, 2nd because that is a bonus point to be found at the final part of the puzzle...if you meant that João match was wrong and you gave the right book you can keep the point.
João, if your previous guess was just a typo and you meant book #29, the point will be yours if Allemano was guessing at the "left out" book.
Man, that' harder than expected! :D
-

Please READ before post...
book 32, car 9 - miniature car watch (Reloj Miniatura)
I was going to change that pic because it was too hard!
Well done!
Book 9 - Car 18, a 1908 Deutz-Bugatti
The caption says something slightly different (but my german is not like yours... ;D)
Locked for you.
Ok, there's just one match left, the bonus point #1 (book left out) is available FOR ALL, without restriction.
Bonus point #2 (title of this puzzle) 24h after the last correct match.
-
I'll return to the classic puzzles, I swear! ;D
-
Since there is no restriction I have a 50 percent chance:
The left out book is #39.

Locked for you.
I only have the first edition (1965) of this book where there is another picture of a very similar car, described as a Deutz-Bugatti Typ 8a from 1908. So it was an educated guess. You can find the very puzzle picture as part of a publicity of the Gasmotorenfabrik Deutz online, described as Deutz Bugatti without a year. I won't be able to have a look at the actual edition of the puzzle book before next Wednesday. So you can decide to unlock or not.

That wasn't hard, was it? ;D
Now, you know the book and there's just one car left....

The car is a Deutz Bugatti Limousine by XXX, the year is not 1908.
It's locked for you to guess the coachbuilder (do not count the Xs) and the year.
-
READ CAREFULLY
You can all* guess at car 33 like a regular puzzle, now.
*All but Oguerrerob, Wendax (who can guess at the missing bits of car 18) and Jotage21...they will wait 24h from their last replies.
After I'll declare solved the last ID, then EVERYONE will have a go at the bonus point left.

The body was made by Utermöhle in Cologne, the year probably 1909.
-
...another educated guess? ;D
Correct!
-
...another educated guess? ;D
Correct!
More educated than guess ;D
Utermöhle was the nearest coachbuilder to Deutz and they had the solitary sales rights for the Deutz-Bugatti. Ettore Bugatti was at Deutz from 1907 to 1909, the production started in 1908, so 1909 wasn't too bad a guess. ;)

Car 33: Belga Rise?
-
Not that...it's quite easy once you find the right questions...
Open for all, no time limit..
-
Eight cylinder prototype by an established manufacturer?
-
Eight cylinder prototype by an established manufacturer?
Yes and No.
-
Related to a German company?
-
According to my sources there is at least a big relation to another manufacturer, but not German.
-
It is a 1932 Mistral with a Ballot engine
-
And it's correct! :applause:
I'll award the points soon, I'm waiting Allemaon's reply about his guess.
Starting from TOMORROW, past 06:47:57 AM everyone can have a go on the final bonus point!
-
My suggestion for the meaning of the title is that 1 month 1 week 1 day is the length of time it would have taken for one single puzzler to answer all the questions according to the rules.
There were 39 answers, and at one answer per 24 hours that’s 39 days = 1 month, 1 week and 1 day!
-
PM sent...
-
It is past 6:47:57 AM now.
1 Month, 1 week and 1 day is the amount of time a single puzzler would need to give the answers to all 39 questions respecting the 24 h time lock after each answer.

There's something strange I don't understand going on here!
You say "It is past 6:47:57 AM now" but your post is timed "10:48:06"!
I posted my reply at 6:48:21 AM, half a minute after the time limit set by PJ!
Any ideas?!
-
I have 6:48:06 AM as the time I sent that post: ???
-
I just found out that you can change the time offset in your "Look and Layout Preferences". I didn't do it, but you probably did.
-
I'm afraid you are both right.
I should have written "24h after Reply#151"....because I think you have set 2 different timing on your PC.
I left the one I found here (07:51AM right now but here it's 01:51PM).
This is the right conclusion for this puzzle! ;D
There won't be the (already in progress) #2, I swear.
Point for both of you.

Yes, my computer shows GMT; you have US eastern time on yours?! No wonder there's some confusion...!
I did wonder what you were doing at your computer before 7 am on a Sunday morning but to be honest I didn't look back and question it; I was not so surprised...!

Thanks PJ! Very fair.
i hope you change your mind about #2! That one was fun.

Mille grazie.
I think the "time lock" idea is a good one for interesting, but not so difficult group puzzles, in order to make them safe against guys like me ;)
