Quite happy with my reasoning on this one! I thought 'well, that one looks VERY South American' and went searching for Puma, because I know that's a Brazilian VW-based car. On one of the Puma pages I found a link to a page about another Brazilian VW-based car... which just happened to be this one:

A 1992 Ventura, "owned by Mark Darkazalli of Arlington, Texas" ;)
1974 Fiat X1/9 1500
2005 Alfa GT 1,9 JTD

All correct! You found this car as I found it...I was looking for some Puma history...your thinking was REALLY fast!!

Add some pics: (quite a nice designed car!)

I believe I have info (and who knows how accurate that is) to the effect that this car would have a different make name -- "Ventura" being the model, I guess. Will have to check that.

It was made in Brazil by "L'Automobile" also sold in the USA by Bremen.

When it ever was shipped to W-Germany the skipper must have gone lost on half of the way...

L'Automobile was the make name I had for this.

Quite so.
Just thought it was amusing; if you buy a car like this one of the the last things you want it to say on the back is VW!
At least it has an element of truth in it though...

You're right, although that's not what I thought it was when I posted it.
It actually makes it a repost of an old puzzle from 2007, so it will be merged.
Well done!
