Down to four pages of Rookie puzzles so time for a top up....

For one point identify this sports racer by telling me what it was called, who built it and when?

This is what racing is all about and needs to get back to. What a creative piece of automotive architecture!

Whitey Thuesen's "Solitary Wasp".  Built in 1954.  It originally used a homemade Crosley-based V-8 and later was fitted with a 1500cc Offenhauser which I was not even aware that they made an Offy that small.
It also had a torsion suspension that was made out of WWII rubber radial engine mounts.
This guy was thinking outside the box!

Yes I agree - this is what racing was all about (in the years when I was a teenager!)
Anyway Tackitt, you are absolutely correct with your interesting reply.
One more point for you.
