What's driving this? SOLVED: BOND BUG

When this Landspeeder from the original Star Wars was not hanging from wires on a crane, it was bolted to a car.
The undercarriage and wheels were hidden by 45 degree mirrors and other tricks.

What automobile was used under the Star Wars Landspeeder when it was originally filmed?  One Point for a Rookie for the correct answer.
(I posted a pic of a toy, but I think you get the idea...)

It was based on a Bond Bug chassis.
