The car has all the ID characteristics of a 1940 Studebaker, probably a President model.
I cannot find the coachbuilder but I feel it is either Dutch or Belgian and I lean towards Dutch.

It would also appear to be using some sort of Producer Gas Apparatus or it's duties required a lot of oxygen based on the four large tanks on the top.

I will keep looking for a coachbuilder but 2 hours have already been invested so don't lock it if my chassis ID is correct.

It´s a Studebaker President, yes.
My source claims it to be a 1939 model year, but that was quite clear.

What I want to hear is the correct coachbuilding company.

Further review would indicate your source is correct, it is a 1939 model, not a 1940.

The two photos posted show that on the 1939 model the two chromium strips on the motor hood are the same length and on the 1940 model one strip is shorter. Sometimes difficult to see looking at a photo taken from an angle like yours.

So, continuing on, is the coachbuilder Dutch?

Goodness, I thought Cuda had nailed this one as according to my own research, Visser "owned" the Dutch market for ambulances for decades. Over 50 chassis types that I have in my files.

So, my number two choice is VanLeersum & Gunsing, the only other builder that I know of that did a lot of such vehicles.
