Solved: Ford Anglia railcar
« on: December 29, 2013, 07:25:17 PM »
I am working on a photo spread of "railcars" that I will post here and I have one image I cannot positively identify.

This vehicle was used on the Danish National Railway postwar and the historic website I got it from cannot identify it either.

The grille has very strong BMW heritage outlines (the kidneys) but I think it is either a British vehicle or perhaps a "custom" vehicle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The front of the railcar seems to be a Ford Anglia.  I haven't seen many images of a 4-door version though.

Hi Cuda:

I think you nailed the basic vehicle.  The grille is a perfect match including the match up to the hood.  The fenders work as do the headlamp mountings

What threw me off are the hood louvers and the windscreen.  But of course, the whole body is coach built so perhaps the rest of it is as well.

Silly me, I was chasing Standards, Hillmans, Morris and all sorts of other sort of 8 HP British vehicles and never even thought of Ford.  Thanks...........
