A shot in the dark....Talbot 8/18?

grobmotorix

Well, with the right branch of Talbot you have pointed in the direction of the correct country, but that´s all so far, sorry... ;)

Wendax

grobmotorix

No, but it is british - smaller as a Talbot and as small as the smallest Swift.

grobmotorix

No, that would also have been a re-post.

I knew I saw it somewhere: it's a Bleriot-Whippet!

I was looking for more info about this particular car but the caption in my book says: "A roadgoing two-seater Bleriot-Whippet" It should have the usual 9hp air-cooled 1-litre Blackburne engine.

The car in the puzzle photo looks rather more like a real car than I am used to!
Most B-Ws had the Zenith-Gradua variable-ratio belt drive (a forerunner of the DAF system?) but the one being rebuilt by a friend has a proper gearbox. Can't post a photo of it as I haven't seen it recently and it was in pieces when I did see it.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

grobmotorix

That would be interesting, indeed...
