Paul Jaray

Was it built in the States in 1914 by 2 men?

grobmotorix

I´m not at home before next monday but I´m quite sure when remembering this one was not american...

Might it be an early Aerosani built by Igor Sikorsky in 1910?
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

I´ve got to check this when I´ll be back at home...

Aerosani is a type of vehicle, means 'aero-sledge' or 'snowmobile' in Russian :)

Yes, thanks, I think I knew that and this thing has runners as well as wheels and it looks possible for a 1910 experimental vehicle.

To let this come closer to a solution:

the name of the constructor sounds italian and we had it here at autopuzzles.

But the land where he has tested it was - african!

I just can rely on the subtext of this very one photo and I hope that we will find out some more facts.

My source claims it to be Libya  :o

Don´t know if before WW I the climate was colder... :D

You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

D-type

Stating the blindingly obvious:

(1)  If this photo was taken in Libya it will be sand not snow
(2)  From 1911 to World War II Libya was an Italian colony
(3)  The double wheels front and back could be intended to carry tracks

So is this an Italian desert cruiser on test in Libya in, say, 1925?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

I think you are right in all points, but I still need a name...

And we´ve heard this name at autopuzzles.com.

I´ve got no information about any technical details.
