What is this? What's going on here? Who built it? What's the significance?
The more details the better!
Time for an Expert opinion!
Anything to do with nitrous oxide?
Nope.
Even more interesting!
Stored compressed air experiment?
No, not compressed air.
Hydrogen?
Yes!
But where?
This might take some research. IMHO that's the fun part of this whole ordeal - learning the stories behind the storied contraptions.
Let's see if any of the Professionals are interested in shedding some light on this.
On the other hand, maybe this is a little too far outside the mainstream puzzle here.
That being said, my first puzzle to make it this far.
Well, I found a photo of it, but the link associated with it was dead. But it's called (in the article I found) a hydrogen-powered race car. Pretty obvious. Looks like a DOHC 1 or 2 cylinder motor at the back of a small, pseudo-formula car.
It says here it is a Formula Student 2008 Entrant , built by Hertfordshire University.
Powered by a Hydrogen fueled Yamaha WR 250 engine.
You can give the point to Ray, I was just interested in finding out what it was.
I think you deserve the point, Wayne. You got the name. I couldn't find it.
I think bubenator has forgotton about this one.........
I didn't really forget about it. Occasionally life requires attention beyond the lovely walls of this...um...forum.
That being said, I think WayneB has this one solved.
This is the Hertfordshire Formula Student car with the first hydrogen-fueled entry back in 2008.
Just for the fun of it, the Delft University team is campaigning some of the first hydrogen fuel-celled entrants in FS.
It's a fascinating read.
