Well, if you're going for simple ........ the answer to "where is this engine?" is ......... in a car, with fat fenders and a split windshield at a show.  ;D

@mymokke
I hate to burst your bubble, but it's actually in a museum.
@WayneB
Not a Chevrolet

You might have noticed the engine has a *few* extra pieces.   ::)

1948 Oldsmobile?

Zerk

Looks like Louis Mattar's Cadillac. San Diego Auto Museum?

@bubenator, no bubble burst at all ....... just having a good time here on autopuzzles! ;D

BTW, I think your puzzle has been solved. ;)

Zerk's got it.

Yes, this is the famed 1947 Cadillac built by Louie Mattar into the ultimate non-stop endurance vehicle.
Assembled over a five-year period, the car made non-stop trips from San Diego to New York City - and back, and from Alaska to Mexico City.

For those not familiar with the story already, 'astounding' hardly begins to describe the effort.  I'll let Hemmings fill in the details.
