This shouldn't be difficult if you are interested in veteran trucks.
For a point identify the make, model and year.

Craig Gillingham

It's a 1927 FWD Quad.

4popoid

1917 FWD Model B, although I think that the picture was taken about ten years later, given the pneumatic tires.

It's a 1927 FWD Quad.
Yes, that's correct Craig.
But should the make include another name - M.................?

I'm not sure what other name you are looking for from Craig, but my reference shows that truck, at that location, and says: The truck pictured is an FWD model B of 1917, serial number 3002, held by the Imperial War Museum (UK).  I have a second reference that says the picture was taken in front of the FWD dealership in Washington, DC, "circa 1927".

Is this still locked?

I'm not trying to take the point from Craig...but if the word that starts with "M" is what I think it is, it isn't part of the manufacturer's name.

4popoid

I think you are correct, Ray.  If you and I are thinking of the same "M"-word, and I bet we are, that this the name of another truck manufacturer represented by the dealer in the picture, and totally unrelated to FWD.

targhediferro

I agree with Ray and 4; I have this picture and another in my archive, they have been shot in front of a dealer who, clearly, sold both FWD and M...(this name appears upon the front door)., but I'm quite sure they are different trucks.

RayTheRat

Ok...the name I've seen is Menominee.  That was an entirely different marque.  See attached photos.

4popoid

Yup, you're looking at some of the same pictures I am, Ray & t.

Craig Gillingham

What I thought was an easy puzzle, turned out to be a bit more difficult than I thought. I agree with 4popoid, it's a Model B, not a Quad (totally different model). The photo was said to be taken in 1927, which doesn't mean the trucks were built then. These trucks appear closer to the late 1910's-early 20's style, rather than the late 20's style FWD's. I think the point should go to 4popoid, as he was the closest, I think. The easy part was identifying it as a FWD, the harder part was getting the rest of the detail correct.

Yes, my mistake - it's nothing to do with Menominee.... :bag:

I believe that 4popold had the first correct answer and so I'll award him the point.
Thank you to Craig Gillingham, RaytheRat and Targhediferro for their contributions as well.

I just discovered FWD acquired Menominee as a subsidiary in 1928 renaming it Utility Supply Co.
