No - what I'm looking for is a short name (the constructor's initials) followed by Special
HB special?

Hmm - you're very close with the name of the car.....Hx Special (x is the missing letter)
Don't forget I also need a year and the engine it was fitted with.
LOCKED for you to come up with the full answer

No a few years younger than 1952
Have another guess before i open it again
im going for 1955?
1959?
1958,if only i could find the missing letter?
Wrong way with the year and we're looking for a letter in the lower half of the alphabet.....
1960 HD ?
the only other car that,s similar is DP special, I can,t find anymore cars ,in that year with special after the first letter?
Not HD nor, of course, the DP Special.

That's the car - the HW Special of 1960 - one point for you.
I'll offer a second point to anyone who can tell me what HW stands for and the make of engine fitted.....
Moving this one up for the Pros to finish off.......name of constructor and make of engine required for a point.
Here's the unaltered image -
Purely guessing: 'H' for Hudson engine (?) and 'W' for builder's name?

Partly correct - the "HW" are the first name/surname of the builder but the engine is not Hudson......
British engine?

I've never seen any other pics of this car - it's difficult to imagine just what size it is from the puzzle pic...

EDIT: can't upload those pics (.bmp), I'll work it out later!

I always change them into .jpg files via Paint; easy - if you've got it of course!
Thank you, that is how I do too, but I was short of time...
Here you are #2 ;D:
Thanks for those photos PJ  - at least they provide an idea of how the car actually looked.....
This is in a museum in Ugglarp in Sweden. I´m eagerly waiting for you to bring up the "rocket car" in the background. Then I´ll be faster and vbring you a truly amazing story :)
