So, is it possible we have a Alfa Romeo chassis (perhaps 2900), with a Lancia Astura 8C engine?

We do indeed have a Alfa Romeo chassis, but not 2900 as far as I know, and a Lancia engine, but not Astura...

Alfa 1750 and Aprilia engine?

Not 1750 but Aprilia is right. It might be easier to look for the guy(s) responsible for the car, as the Alfa chassis is not very common

nicanary

This is a strange combination - the Aprilia engine is very small for such a large car. I think this means the builder used what was available to him.The chassis is very high, and I think it comes from much earlier - is it an Alfa RLSS?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

mekubb

The chassis is not from an Alfa RLSS as far as I know but could well be from an older car then the puzzle car.

mekubb

Just checked, the chassis is from an Alfa tipo 256

targhediferro

256 is a number given to sport chassis 6c2500.

Thank you. I hate to steal points, but this means we just need the date. So it's a Alfa Romeo 6C2500 chassis, type number 256, fitted with a Lancia Aprilia engine. I guess that this was just post-war, so I'll say 1947.

Really something strange a 256 with aprilia engine...someday we'll find a Ferrari 166 with a NSU prinz engine!

If so, the car was built by COrmons Ferri, and run the 1947 Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti with number 156 (17th)

Yes, Iluvatar found the right name and year, so 1 point for you. Nicanary mentioned 1947 as well but Iluvatar beat you with the full answer.
