It has certain ID characteristics of a ca. 1938 Hotchkiss.
Is that going in the right direction??

Yes, it's a Hotchkiss.
I don't have a year but I do have the model so that should narrow down the date.
LOCKED for you for another guess.....

I have not been able to match this exact car, but a good possibility is:
Hotchkiss 686 with body by Chapron from 1938-1939.

Chapron seemed to like this vehicle as he did multiple bodies on them for many years.

It is a Hotchkiss 686 but not by Chapron.
However the coachbuilder is French.
Have another guess Bill before I open it again.

Please unlock it, Malcolm.

My daughter and granddaughter are spending part of the day with us while travelling to a Gymnastics Competition and as they live 8 hours drive away, we don't see them often so I will be tied up.

If no one answers it, I will try again this evening.
Bill
