Skoda was my first idea as well, but apparently it's not. How about Aero ?

Yes, Aero it is.
Locked for you to enlarge..
OK, found it : Aero R 1500 Rekord Prototype from 1946
This is quite interesting.........
The same source in another page calls the same car a P-1500 built in 1944.
If I translate correctly, the builder was "Tudor".
It also mentions that there were two such prototypes but they use the same photo as the quiz question and I cannot find a photo yet of the other one.
I'm not trying to steal the point, just providing more information.
mekubb, read your pm's please.

No, the car pictured below is the R-1500 Rekord from 1946 (note the differences around the front).
But Bill Murray has identified the car correctly, despite it being locked for mekubb..
So I'm not quite sure what to do now.
Mekubb should have had the chance to get it right, but hasn't quite earned the point.
Bill Murray did get it right but shouldn't really have posted; it's best to wait until you're allowed to post again despite your best intentions..
I'll think about it but if anyone has any observations they would be welcome..
Goodness, Norman, give the point to mekubb, I was just adding to the data, and I don't and didn't want the point.
You provided the photo of the R variant, which I could not find after a lot of searching, and I am sure mekubb searched equally as hard, and the same source misidentified the car in one posting, using the same photo for both variants.
I will try to tame my enthusiasm a bit more in the future, but I figured as mekubb was right on target he was going to get the point.
Dilemma solved....
Bill
Thanks Bill.. I know it's difficult to stop yourself sometimes when you have something to say!
I'll still think on a bit as mekubb didn't quite earn the point although he was very close and may (or may not as the info wasn't easy to come by) have got the right model eventually. On balance he probably deserves the point but I'll decide what to do when I'm back home tonight!
So it's solved and mekubb gets the point.
To be honest, despite the captions I reckon the puzzle car should really be the later 1946 1500-R Rekord and the other dark-coloured car the 1944 P-1500 Rekord prototype, so mekubb would have been right all along. But that's just the way it appears to me and I may be wrong. Any Aero experts out there?
