The dashboard looks like a Ford Prefect 1948 one; I don't know what this car was for, but I suppose a Drive-school.

It's a Ford Prefect, as seen from the back seat by someone after they'd imbibed a whole bottle of Count Pushkin. ;D

Today must be the day for double-answers.
I've given Hiawatha a point because it is indeed a Ford Prefect with an early attempt at dual controls for driver instruction.

But I've also given targhediferro a point because it is a '48 Prefect, not a '49.

Apparently the idea was not a success; it didn't take kindly to people pulling in opposite directions...!

The Austrian army had bought some double-steered driving school trucks in the 1960s, the Steyr 680 MF (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=15651.msg152585#msg152585).

I was taught to drive in a dual control Ford Anglia in 1966.  Later than that some driving school cars had dual brake and clutch pedals to allow panic stops by instructors/ examiners..

I don't know about other countries, but dual pedal controls are obligatory in German driving school cars.

Me too, also in 1966! (although I'd been driving since age 12 on private land and had already exceeded 80 mph well before I was 17..)
All driving school cars I've come acress have the dual brake and clutch pedals; isn't that what dual control means?  Is there any other kind?  Think the dual steering wheels talked about above are very very rare and are not practical.

When I first went to Portugal, around 1980, I remember seeing driving school cars with full dual control, including two steering wheels.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos, but here are some earlier examples. Apparently the second steering wheel was a requirement for instruction vehicles in Portugal until the 1980s.

More steering wheels = more problems

Can you imagine them trying to parallel park?

Oy, Vey!
