This one has given me fits.........
The best I can come up with is a BMW 505 Prototype from ca. 1955.
The car was supposedly used by Adenauer (spelling?) as a "State Car" for a very short period of time before the Mercedes 300 series was ready.
Your photo does not match the normal photos one finds in BMW history books nor on the internet but other than small details it looks like the "real thing".
Lets see if I got it right.

It's a BMW of course, that much is obvious, but it's not the 505 Prototype and it's not from 1955.
I think you haven't got the right car there, which is probably why the photo doesn't match!

Yes it's a 502 and it's by Autenrieth.
So I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to find its name and year of build.
I guessed Autenrieth because of the slab sides, bearing a resemblance to their cabriolet models. I have searched websites and images but can't find anything.
I suspect it will need a German Coachbuilders book to provide the answer. You can unlock by all means.

Believe me, some of them really do take some finding.
That's why I'm always a bit miffed if they get answered within 5 minutes without any questions!!
First of all I apologize if I jumped the gun on this one..I just Googled BMW 502 Autenrieth and found the Norwegian magazine with the list of Autenrieth bodied BMW, including by chance the 327 of the other Carnut puzzle. At the same time if one is 99% sure the answer is the correct one there is no need for a lot of questions.
