What's this, from when, and where is it in the picture - for 1 point?:

I remember of a look-a-like car from middle '30, but this seems to be a coupe, while that one was a roadster.
Was this car a one-off?

Oswald

This is Colonel Alexandru Berlescu's Ford V8 special.
A very intriguing car. We've had it here before though...

That's the car, and it has indeed been pictured in the thread pointed out by PJ.
But it appears to me to be a different car from that in that it is a FHC rather than a roadster, as targhediferro said.  I believe it to be an earlier version; also the 2nd part of the question has still not been answered so the point isn't earned yet but I will lock it for Oswald for 24 hours to see if he can find out where it is pictured.

I'm not sure whether it should be merged when solved however, as it is not that convertible seen in the other puzzle, or if it is the same car then it's in a different form.  Maybe someone knows for sure?

It was definitely modified more then once. I guess it could be on the 1935 Coppa D'Oro del Littorio here, supposedly the first race Berlescu entered the car in. But I do not know more.

I'm sure you're right about the modifications; the picture doesn't show it in that race however so this is open once more.

As far as I can find the puzzle car is Alexandru Berlescu's Ford V8 with a special aluminium body. This body was made by SET Zamfirescu from Bucharest.  Here is another pic from the 1935 Rallye Bucuresti.

Is it unlocked?

Yes, open to all!

The car and its builder has already been established, although it's not clear if it's the same car that has been puzzled before with quite different bodywork or if it's actually a different car.

All I'm waiting for now is for someone to tell me when and at which event the puzzle photo was taken?

So the pic is not from 1935 ? How about 1934 ?

targhediferro

I think that the picture was taken at Montecarlo rallye 1936, and that Barlescu transformed his roadster in a sort of coupè in order to prevent himself from the cold, as Montecarlo is raced on winter.

Surely he didn't enter that monstrosity in the Concours d'Elegance ?

Silly me, I meant the Concours de Confort.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

:lmao: I thought you were hinting it WAS the Monte but not the competitive bit. Bill Couper's Bentleys it is not.

Nothing to do with the Monte!

Thinking over the cold weather that was referred to earlier, and the fact that the event was not the Monte, I had to think about the Austrian-Swiss Alps. So looking for Alpen and ford V8 in German I came across the puzzle pic. It is the 1934 Alpenfahrt that you are looking for I believe.

Yes, you found it!
Well done.
