That looks like a 'fifties Buick windscreen, so perhaps a Buick base?

No, it's not one of those!
Mid-1950's "Carl Holch Special"from Massachusetts.
I was pretty sure this car had to be on the "Forgotten Fiberglass" site somewhere, but I had almost given up any hope of finding it. Carl Holch's son, Eric did a nice little write-up on the car, even though it actually raises as many questions as it answers. Apparently this car was built from the molds originally used to make bodies for another car - although no one seems to be able to identify what car that might have been. Particulars seem to include an old Mercury chassis and a porthole top from a two-seat T-Bird.
There isn't much escapes Geoff!
You do sometimes need to do a lot of digging though if you're not equipped with the name to start with - there's so much info there.
Anyway, you got it. Well done!
I always maintain that the search is half the fun, and I usually trip across some very interesting cars along the way!
Now if I can only remember them all . . .
